The Seven Dwarfs of Tweeting

7 dwarfs of tweeting

I have been on Twitter a couple of years now and I have seen all kinds of Tweeters out there.  Whether some realize it or not what you do on Twitter can tell a lot about you and may even give off the wrong impression to others.  To make it fun I thought I would break it down by the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs analogy (Walt Disney Studios Production).  I had to have my daughter remind of the personality characteristics of each dwarf so a big thank you to my little girl. Which dwarf most represents your tweets?Bashful Tweeter

How long have you had your account and how many tweets do you have? I have heard some friends and students tell me that they simply do not know what to say.  Some are afraid to jump in on conversations and chats out of fear of embarrassment or saying something that will make them look bad. There is nothing wrong with that. You are still cute and adorable and I hope your fears will pass soon so you can enjoy the community.

Doc Tweeter

A Doc Tweeter to me is one of those super smart, resourceful and helpful people. They have a wealth of knowledge on what they are passionate about and you can tell by their blog posts they tweet that they have done a ton of research on a particular subject.  They are also the kind of tweeters you take note of in chats since their thoughts leave you with much to ponder on.

Dopey Tweeter

I would never ever say there are stupid tweeters out there but there are certainly some silly ones which I always find entertaining.  There are some great conversation artists out there that just simply make you laugh and who of us does not like to laugh? My kids wonder sometimes why I am hollering at my computer screen. If you are a Dopey Tweeter, you are the reason why.

Grumpy Tweeter

Grumpy Tweeter could also be known as moody Tweeter.  This is kind of a unique and misunderstood group in my opinion.  I chat with a lot of different people on Twitter and from time to time I will across some folks who will respond to a direct mention tweet and engage in conversation and then just simply won't for a period of time and then start up again.  I am not referring to those with ten jillion followers either.  I am not really sure why this happens and maybe it only happens to me. Who knows?  Overall I find Grumpy Tweeters to be very rare.

Happy Tweeter

You have to love a Happy Tweeter. These are the people who are pretty consistent on Twitter and who are always super enthusiastic about life itself.  Even in the digital world, you feel their amazing energy.  They are the folks you may make special lists for or have in some of your columns in Tweetdeck because you don't want to miss out on anything they may share or say. With all the negativity in the world being a Happy Tweeter is super special.

Sleepy Tweeter

Yes, you guessed it.  A Sleepy Tweeter to me is one who only schedules tweets or who only uses their twitter feed to share content.  In other words, they are never there and they mine as well be sleeping because their level of interaction is zero anyway.

Sneezy Tweeter

When you watched the Snow White movie all the dwarfs would brace themselves around Sneezy.  They knew when he was winding up that they were about to get blasted.  To me, that is kind of like people who only tweet about themselves and their products.  I kind of feel like I am getting blasted which can sometimes result as an unfollow for that poor chap or chappette.

So where do you rank?  Maybe you are a combination of a couple or just one but as long as we keep working with each other our Twitter experiences will always be magical. If you have any thoughts on any particular Dwarf then feel free to share them in the comments section below.

I almost feel like someone needs to tell ME what Dwarf I am. I like to think that I'm a Doc Tweeter with a sprinkle of Happy but the majority of you will probably disagree. Great article Jonathan....as always.

Maybe you could tell me what kind I am? 🙂 LOL! I do NOT want to be grumpy. Man, I am really ashamed of the case of nasties people seem to get and feel okay sharing with the world, especially when they are a blogger. YIKES I say! Bad vibes means I ain't goin' near your blog 🙂

    Blessings,
